Lady Gaga goes gourmet: Inside look at her parent's new restaurant which features recipes by the eccentric star (2024)

She is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and a fashion designer.

And now Lady Gaga can add chef to her list of credentials.

The 25-year-old singer's parents Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta are set to open the doors of their new Upper West Side restaurant this evening, and many of the Born This Way star's recipes are on the menu.

'Joanne Trattoria' is a family-style restaurant named after Gaga's deceased aunt Joanne, who died of Lupus disease at the tender age of 19.

Gaga has often said that the late poet and painter was one of her biggest inspirations of her music.

The decor inside the establishment is the complete polar opposite to the singer's eccentric style.

The eatery features wooden tables, leather booths, open brick walls, and warm-coloured painted walls.

Portraits and photographs of the Germanotta family are dotted throughout, and guests can enjoy an open fireplace in the outside courtyard.

It is the first time the Germanotta's have ever opened a restaurant. Joseph is a former internet entrepreneur.

'This has been a lifelong dream, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s finally happening,' he told New York's Daily News yesterday.

The Italian menu features recipes from not just from Lady Gaga herself, but also Joseph and Gaga's grandmother.

The menu was designed by Art Smith, who famously worked for talk show queen Oprah Winfrey in 2007. He cooked for Gaga on the Oprah Show some years back.

'This is truly a collaborative effort, inspired by the Germanotta’s family love of food and family,' he told the Daily News. 'Everything from the menu to the decor has a bit of their family in it. It’s why everything is so warm and approachable.'

Dishes include Wood Fired Focaccia, Zucchini Fritters, Tomato Fennel Soup, Chopped Antipasti Salad, Papa Joe’s Chicken, Grandma Ronnie’s Meatballs and Six Layer Lasagna.

Meanwhile, the Just Dance songstress has revealed she wants a child but in her usual style has divulged a series of demands, including the father must be Italian and conception would be through artificial insemination.

It isn't clear how her American boyfriend actor and model Taylor Kinney, who was raised in Neffsville, Pennsylvania, feels about the revelations.

Gaga is notoriously private about her love life, but yesterday she told Spain's Radio Ibiza she was looking for a partner to have a child with, but they must share her Italian and Sicilian roots.

She told the station: 'I want a baby from an Italian - possibly Sicilian - donor.'

Lady Gaga's father Joseph originally comes from the village of Naso in Sicily.

Gaga gave a hint she might have the baby bug earlier this month when she sent a romper suit to Beyonce's newbown tot, Blue Ivy.

The onesie had the words 'Little Monster' - Lady Gaga's nickname for her fans - picked out in pink diamante.

Taylor - who has a large angel tattoo sprawling across his back - and Gaga met while filming her video You And I back in September where he played her love interest.

Since the filming of the video - in which they share a steamy kiss - the couple have apparently been inseparable.

When asked about her relationship status back in October, Gaga said: 'You know I don't talk about my love life, but I'm very happy.'
